We all want to live long,stay healthy and enjoy life to its fullest.It is a normal human need.Unfortunately,not everyone ends up achieving this.Still,you can if you read this post thoroughly,understand it and practically apply it to your life.
Here are Dr Z's tips for a long and healthy life.
1. Maintain a healthy lifestyle
This may sound like a cliche that you must have seen on other healthy living blog sites or even heard times without number but the first rule to elongating your life span remains living a healthy life.
This includes:
-Eating clean and healthy foods
-Cutting down on or completely eliminating your intake of junk foods,sugary foods,carbonated and sugary drinks.
-Drinking lots of water
-Exercise
-Quitting unhealthy habits.
2. Work out
Exercise.I am emphasizing on it to show you how important it is.Even a 30-minute brisk walk,sit-up or jog-on-the-spot would go a long way in keeping you fit and healthy.
3. Eat healthy
Try as much as possible to balance your food intake using the acid-alkaline measurement.Acidic foods(white rice,white bread,white flour,meat(especially red meat),egg,sugary foods,sweets,sugary drinks) etc are known to increase the overall acidity of the human body while alkaline foods(fruits,vegetables,nuts,beans and clean drinking water) are known to increase the overall alkalinity of the human body.
Of course, the logic here is that when an environment is too acidic,it becomes volatile and set off some chemical reactions which can damage a lot of things and cause a disaster.It is the exact same thing in the human body.When it is too acidic because of the amount of acidic foods taken into it,some chemical reactions can be set off which can cause serious complications and diseases into he body.On the other hand,if the body is more alkaline,it would prevent these diseases rather than being the cause and even combat the acid in the body.Of course, the stronger one wins so if you want the alkaline in your body to be the stronger one and defeat the acid,you have to eat more alkaline than acidic food.It is just simple common sense.
There should be an 80%-20% alkalinity-acidity balance in the body in order for these diseases to be prevented.In the process,you improve the longevity of your life.
4. Drink water
The essence of drinking enough water that is needed for the human body cannot be overemphasized.The human body needs a maximum of 8 glasses of clean water per day to function properly.That is what is called the "water therapy".Replace your sugary drinks with water and reap the health benefits.Drink water today to stay alive and healthy.
5. Quit unhealthy lifestyle habits
I know we all have our one or two indulgences once in a while but in order to live long,we have to grow up a little and cut off from some if not most of them at least.Some of these habits include:
i) Smoking
ii)Drinking alcohol
iii)Over-eating(especially of junk foods)
iv)Staying glued to our Tvs,phones,laptops and other gadgets or electronic devices almost throughout the whole day.
All these can shorten one's life span because they have the tendency to incur different health complications and diseases.I know it is not easy but you have to try.At least,make an effort and you would never regret it.
6. Be happy
The popular saying goes that "laughter is the best medicine" and that is one truth that cannot be denied.I am sure we all have heard of cases of people that were diagnosed with some deadly diseases but who later got cured because they chose to be happy.The logic here is simple to understand.When you are always upset,angry and tensed,your nerves,organs and every part of your body would be under serious pressure thereby incurring serious health problems like;high blood pressure,stroke,heart attack etc. On the other hand,when you are always relaxed,calm and happy;your organs would be relaxed and suffer less stress.Therefore,choose happiness today to stay healthy and alive.
7. Sleep
The importance of sleep cannot be overemphasized.Have you ever heard anyone talking about how they need to get their beauty sleep.Yes,beauty sleep.Sleep is indeed therapeutic and it makes you stay younger,healthier and live longer.I personally do not joke with my sleep.I practically make sure i get the recommended/required 8 hours of beauty sleep to keep my body strong,productive and alive.
